Together, we do better.

Public service is a worthwhile and serious-minded venture. People work and plan with other people. This creates communities of varying geographies and interests.

In Port Orange, with approximately 64,000 residents, expectations are high for efficient and effective delivery of services. Those services are as vitally important as Emergency Medical Care or the timely arrival of EMS across the city. Is the rate of development outstripping our transportation infrastructure?

As stewards of the environment, we are called to think about how we do what we do. Is it efficient? Is it sustainable? Is it equitable?

Do we have the means in place to meet growing needs?

Together, we can be responsive and responsible, sensitive and civic-minded. Our efforts need to be coordinated to allow for the maximum positive impact.

Together, we can revisit projects that have been delayed or not working as planned. That is where Port Orange excels!

Experience

Municipal governance touches citizens' lives for multiple reasons and in many ways. Emergency management, law enforcement, fire protection, public utilities, parks and recreation are some of the touchpoints throughout our community.

Before relocating to Port Orange, I was involved with several municipalities in the Southwest areas of the city of Pittsburgh. Being elected to Borough Council in one of the municipalities, I experienced first-hand this municipal governance style. I also had direct interaction with our citizens through individual and collaborative communication outreach efforts.

Opportunities

Port Orange experienced strong growth during the past twenty years. Through planning and dutiful concurrence, the future looks bright. However, future growth needs to be planned with a viable commitment to sustainability. With city, state, and county dollars many services are shared. Building wider roads does not automatically diminish traffic congestion. Open, green space does not have to become a home for macadam and construction cones. It is incumbent that our citizens have elected officials who recognize these challenges; and are prepared to address them with meaningful conversation and dialogue.

Biography

Growing up in a working-class family, I learned the value of discipline, responsibility, and shared objectives. Working in non-profit and for-profit organizations instilled a respect of duty, integrity, advocacy, and flexibility in my interactions with customers and clients.

To you, my prospective supporter and voter, I pledge an open ear to your point of view. Being bound to a sense of urgency allows for a straightforward means of achieving common results for common problems.

I would be proud to serve on the Port Orange City Council for District 3.
